Merry Wind Farm
Title: Ellen Spedding 1824 Sampler
Stitch count: 241 x 272 high
Details: Ellen Spedding 1832 is one of two new releases from Merry Wind Farm. Young Ellen was 11 years old then she stitched her sampler in Earls Heaton, Yorkshire, England. First to catch your eye is the unusual red Adam and Eve and the pair of spotted deer. Not one to waste her linen, Ellen included flower vases, owls, trees, birds, an angel, a pair of Solomon’s Temple, surrounded by a striking maple leaf border.
The stitch count is 241(w) x 272(H). Threads used are Gentle Arts Sampler Threads and DMC.
Ellen’s sampler was a delight to stitch, and I like to think she would be amazed that she has not been “quite forgot”.
